Report: Poland's finance minister may replace PM next week

Polish Finance Minister Mateusz Morawiecki may replace Prime Minister Beata Szydlo in the week of Dec. 11, Reuters reported, citing four sources.

Szydlo, who has been prime minister since late 2015, announced in November that a government reshuffle would mark the midpoint of the parliamentary term.

Morawiecki, who also holds the post of deputy prime minister, is a former bank head and has pledged billions of euros worth of investment in the country. Szydlo and Morawiecki have been at odds on how to rein in the country's largest state-owned companies, with the spat becoming public earlier in 2017 when picking the CEO of insurance company PZU SA.

Party Chairman Jaroslaw Kaczynski presented a plan for Morawiecki to replace Szydlo, ABC News reported, citing Polish daily Rzeczpospolita.
