Arafura partners with USA Rare Earth to process Nolans Bore ore

Arafura Resources Ltd. agreed to send the heavy rare earth concentrate from its Nolans Bore neodymium-praseodymium project in Northern Territory, Australia, for processing to USA Rare Earth LLC's Colorado pilot plant.

The companies will execute a definitive agreement in the first quarter of 2020.

According to the Dec. 23 release, USA Rare Earth and its joint venture partner Texas Mineral Resources Corp. submitted a tender for the U.S. Department of Defense's Cornerstone Initiative, which is looking to develop domestic capability in the U.S. for separation of heavy rare earths.

Arafura signed a second off-take agreement in September to supply up to 900 tonnes per annum of neodymium-praseodymium oxide from the Nolans project to permanent magnets manufacturer Baotou Tianhe Magnetics Technology Co. Ltd.
