Agilent to acquire privately held biomolecule analysis company for $250M

California's Agilent Technologies Inc. agreed to acquire Advanced Analytical Technologies Inc. for $250 million in cash.

Ankeny, Iowa-based Advanced Analytical Technologies is a privately held company that provides biomolecule analysis solutions, comprising electrophoresis-based instruments, software and consumables.

Agilent expects the acquisition to advance its growth strategy and strengthen its portfolio of solutions.

The deal is subject to customary closing conditions and regulatory approval.

Electrophoresis is an analysis technique used to separate biomolecules such as nucleic acids, proteins and carbohydrates. The technique is used across industries including pharmaceuticals, food, forensics, chemicals and energy.
