Coeur Mining Inc. kicked off production at its Silvertip silver-zinc-lead mine in British Columbia following the successful commissioning of mill operations.
The ramp up of production is slightly ahead of schedule, with mill throughput expected to increase from an estimated 250 tonnes per day in April to 750 t/d by year-end, the company said March 8.
Coeur plans to submit an application for a full permit amendment for Silvertip during the second quarter and expects to secure approval by the end of this year.
Silvertip is scheduled to reach its nameplate capacity of 1,000 t/d in early 2019.
Coeur completed the acquisition of Silvertip in October 2017.
