Houston-based BBVA Compass Bancshares Inc. appointed Che Goff its president for Corpus Christi City in Texas.
Goff succeeds Dan Brown, who had previously announced his retirement from the banking industry. Brown now serves on the bank's local board.
Goff has been with BBVA Compass as a commercial loan officer since 2013.

John Spurr Jr. retired as a director of Rockland, Mass.-based Independent Bank Corp. and subsidiary Rockland Trust Co. in accordance with the company's governance principles because he had reached the age of 72.
In connection with Spurr's retirement, the size of the board of both the company and of Rockland Trust will decrease to 12 from 13.
Spurr is the vice chairman of A.W. Perry Inc., S&P Global Market Intelligence records show.

Willemien Miller joined the board of Hanover, N.H.-based Ledyard Financial Group Inc. on Dec. 3.
Miller is an attorney and director with Downs Rachlin Martin PLLC.
Financial services
Northern Trust Corp. named Michele Havens president of the West Region, which encompasses offices in Arizona, California, Colorado, Nevada, Texas and Washington.
Havens will take over for Steven Bell, effective Feb. 28, 2019, as Bell retires after 36 years with the company.
Havens, who joined Northern Trust in 2000, became president of the Southern California Region in 2018.
