Redbox, Universal Pictures extend content distribution deal

Comcast Corp.'s Universal Pictures struck a revised content distribution deal with Redbox Automated Retail LLC, Deadline.com reported Dec. 21, citing a statement by Redbox CEO Galen Smith.

Universal Pictures will now release content day-and-date on Redbox and everywhere else. The new agreement will go into effect Jan. 2, 2018.

The studio previously followed a 28-day release window for Redbox.
