Amazon.com Inc. on March 26 teamed up with French retailer Casino Guichard-Perrachon SA for grocery delivery in France.
Through this partnership, the e-commerce giant will offer groceries from Casino's retail chain Monoprix to Amazon's Prime Now members in Paris and surrounding areas.
Monoprix's store network extends across 250 cities in France under six banners.
Amazon has reportedly been mulling expansion in France and reached out to several French retailers including Casino and E. Leclerc SA. French newspaper Le Monde reported in October 2017 that Casino turned down Amazon after the Seattle-based company expressed interest in a deal involving Monoprix.
A Reuters report in February also said Amazon will add 2,000 jobs in France and plans to open a 142,000-square-foot delivery warehouse in the country.
