EDF Renewable Energy Inc. achieved commercial operation at the 80-MW Copenhagen Wind Farm in Lewis and Jefferson counties, N.Y.
Interconnected to the Niagara Mohawk Power Corp. infrastructure, the 40-turbine project will supply electricity to Narragansett Electric Co. under a 15-year power contract.
The EDF Groupaffiliate said the project has invested $15 million in supplies, equipment, utilities and fuel sourced from local businesses. Vestas Wind Systems A/S supplied turbines for the facility, while Renewable Energy Systems Americas Inc. was the project contractor.
EDF Renewables Asset Optimization will provide asset management services to the plant.
Niagara Mohawk Power and Narragansett Electric are subsidiaries of National Grid PLC.
