NextEra Energy Inc. and Vistra Energy Corp. filed a request with the Federal Energy Regulatory Commission to change their respective upstream ownership interests in two gas-fired power plants.
Currently, NextEra Energy and Vistra Energy each own a 50% stake in the 349.4-MW Sayreville Cogeneration plant in New Jersey and 349.4-MW Bellingham Cogeneration facility in Massachusetts.
North Jersey Energy Associates LP owns Sayreville while Northeast Energy Associates A LP owns Bellingham. Under the transaction, as outlined in an application to FERC filed Jan. 7, Vistra Energy will own North Jersey Energy Associates and NextEra will own Northeast Energy Associates. The companies described the ownership changes as an effort to "rationalize their interests."
Sayreville is connected to the PJM Interconnection balancing area and Bellingham feeds into the ISO New England market.
Both companies have asked FERC to approve the transaction by March 7. (FERC docket EC20-29)
