An Italian court has blocked Uber Technologies Inc. in the country over unfair competition, Reuters reported April 7, citing a court document.
The court, which favored a suit filed by major Italian taxi associations, ruled that the ride-hailing company could neither use its smartphone apps nor promote or advertise its services in Italy.
Uber's Italian unit said it would appeal the ruling, according to the report.
The decision represents the latest blow to Uber, which is dealing with an intellectual property lawsuit in California over its self-driving car technology. Its European unit is also accused in Denmark of assisting two drivers in violating taxi laws.
