Ensign Group acquires Utah-based skilled nursing facility

The Ensign Group Inc. acquired Cedar City, Utah-based skilled nursing facility provider Bella Terra Cedar City, effective Jan. 1.

The Mission Viejo, Calif.-based healthcare facilities provider said the acquisition includes the real estate and operations of Bella Terra. The facility has 120 skilled nursing beds.

Financial terms of the transaction were not disclosed.

Ensign said its portfolio now includes 189 skilled nursing operations and owns the real estate at 73 of its 245 healthcare operations.

The company, which bought skilled nursing facilities and an assisted living facility last year, said it is seeking opportunities to acquire real estate and to lease both well-performing and struggling skilled nursing, assisted living and other healthcare related businesses in the U.S.
