Tawana Resources NL said March 14 that lithium concentrate production has started at the Bald Hill lithium-tantalum joint venture in Western Australia with Alliance Mineral Assets Ltd.
"The focus now is to achieve steady state production from the stage one dense media separation circuit and optimize lithium yields. Concurrently, the JV will work on completion of the stage two lithium fines circuit design and recommissioning of the tantalum circuits," said Managing Director Mark Calderwood.
The company holds a 50% stake in the Western Australian project through its Lithco No. 2 Pty. Ltd. unit.
In January, Tawana and Alliance signed a nonbinding term sheet for the off-take of a minimum of 600,000 pounds of tantalum concentrate between April and Dec. 31, 2020, from the Bald Hill project.
