Italy's trade surplus reaches €4.34B in June

Italy's seasonally adjusted trade surplus reached €4.34 billion in June, the country's National Institute of Statistics said.

Exports increased 4.6% from the previous month to €39.38 billion and imports edged up by 0.3% to €35.04 billion. Exports to EU countries increased by 2.1%, while imports from the bloc fell by 0.9%. Exports to non-EU countries rose by 8.0% and imports from non-EU countries climbed by 2.1%.

The country's unadjusted trade balance was €5.07 billion as exports rose 6.6% year over year and imports increased 5.9% from a year earlier.

For the first half of 2018, the country's trade surplus totaled €18.96 billion. Exports increased by 3.7% from the year-ago period and imports were up by 4.1%.
