Raia Drogasil SA said its first-quarter normalized net income amounted to 16 Brazilian centavos per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 15 centavos per share.
EPS increased year over year from 8 centavos.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 52.8 million reais, a gain from 26.2 million reais in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 2.7% from 1.6% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased 19.2% year over year to 1.97 billion reais from 1.65 billion reais, and total operating expenses climbed 16.8% year over year to 1.87 billion reais from 1.60 billion reais.
Reported net income increased on an annual basis to 70.3 million reais, or 21 centavos per share, from 29.1 million reais, or 9 centavos per share.
As of April 29, US$1 was equivalent to 2.94 reais.
