Riso Kyoiku Co. Ltd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal fourth quarter ended Feb. 29 was ¥9.52 per share, an increase of 66.9% from ¥5.70 per share in the prior-year period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥491.3 million, a gain of 67.2% from ¥293.8 million in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 9.0% from 5.8% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 8.1% year over year to ¥5.47 billion from ¥5.06 billion, and total operating expenses grew year over year to ¥4.67 billion from ¥4.58 billion.
Reported net income rose on an annual basis to ¥727.0 million, or ¥14.09 per share, from ¥340.0 million, or ¥6.60 per share.
For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled ¥22.49 per share, a gain of 83.1% from ¥12.28 per share in the prior year.
Normalized net income was ¥1.16 billion, a gain of 89.8% from ¥611.3 million in the prior year.
Full-year total revenue increased year over year to ¥19.64 billion from ¥18.78 billion, and total operating expenses totaled ¥17.75 billion, compared with ¥17.77 billion in the year-earlier period.
The company said reported net income decreased 40.0% year over year to ¥1.43 billion, or ¥27.68 per share, in the full year, from ¥2.38 billion, or ¥47.80 per share.
