Sigma Lithium Resources Inc. said May 24 that it secured an environmental license for its dense media separation pilot plant, which will process lithium from the Grota do Cirilo property in Brazil's Minas Gerais state.
The pilot plant will have a capacity to produce up to 12,000 tonnes of battery-grade lithium spodumene concentrate per annum at the rate of 10 tonnes per hour. It will consist of a two-stage crushing circuit with a capacity of 30 tonnes per hour, a magnetic separation unit and a DMS unit.
Sigma is currently conducting tests of the ore sorter technology, which will be later added to the plant.
The company expects to complete plant construction by June, with production targeted by the end of 2019.
