Nestlé Lanka PLC said its normalized net income for the first quarter was 17.47 Sri Lankan rupees per share, an increase of 9.5% from 15.96 rupees per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 938.9 million rupees, a gain of 9.5% from 857.7 million rupees in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 10.5% from 10.0% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue grew 7.3% on an annual basis to 9.22 billion rupees from 8.60 billion rupees, and total operating expenses rose 6.7% year over year to 7.73 billion rupees from 7.24 billion rupees.
Reported net income increased 5.0% year over year to 1.16 billion rupees, or 21.56 rupees per share, from 1.10 billion rupees, or 20.53 rupees per share.
As of May 12, US$1 was equivalent to 133.63 Sri Lankan rupees.
