Ukrainian parliament officially appoints central bank governor

The Ukrainian parliament appointed Yakiv Smolii governor of the National Bank of Ukraine, the regulator said March 15.

The parliament also removed Valeria Gontareva from the post after accepting her resignation.

Smolii has been serving as acting governor of the central bank since May 2017, after Gontareva decided to step down and went on a forced leave while waiting for her resignation to be accepted by parliament.
