Toray Industries Inc. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Sept. 30 amounted to ¥13.42 per share, an increase of 6.5% from ¥12.60 per share in the prior-year period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was ¥21.48 billion, a gain of 6.5% from ¥20.17 billion in the prior-year period.
The normalized profit margin climbed to 4.0% from 4.0% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased 6.5% on an annual basis to ¥531.70 billion from ¥499.36 billion, and total operating expenses increased 5.1% year over year to ¥493.61 billion from ¥469.56 billion.
Reported net income declined 12.4% year over year to ¥23.27 billion, or ¥14.54 per share, from ¥26.55 billion, or ¥16.59 per share.
As of Nov. 11, US$1 was equivalent to ¥122.91.
