Nissan Motor Co. Ltd. intends to raise employees' monthly base salary for the fifth year in a row, the Nikkei Asian Review reported March 8.
No set amount has been disclosed but labor is reportedly negotiating for an increase of ¥3,000.
The move is meant to motivate employees amid a vehicle inspection scandal at the company and declining earnings in its U.S. operations, the publication said.
In 2017, Nissan raised workers' monthly base pay by ¥1,500.
As of March 7, US$1 was equivalent to ¥106.17.
