Mitsubishi UFJ Financial taps Santander exec as LatAm corporate banking head

Mitsubishi UFJ Financial Group Inc. said it hired Sandy Salgado as the head of the Japanese company's Latin America corporate banking division, effective March 27.

The position has been held on an interim basis by John Koike, Mitsubishi UFJ Financial's regional head for Latin America. Salgado will serve as a New York-based managing director reporting to Koike.

Salgado was previously the head of consumer, retail and healthcare for North America at Banco Santander SA, where he worked for four years. He has also held the role of chairman of BBVA Securities Inc., and was based in Argentina and Brazil for the majority of his 21-year stint at Citigroup Inc.
