Trading activity spiked at major U.S. online brokerages in January following a slight dip a month earlier.
TD Ameritrade Holding Corp.'s daily average revenue trades soared to 980,000 in January, up 31.7% over December 2017 levels. DARTs at Interactive Brokers Group Inc. and E*TRADE Financial Corp. jumped by 29.2% and 28.7%, respectively, for the month.
Total client assets climbed across the board on both sequential and year-over-year bases. In the case of TD Ameritrade, for instance, client assets were up more than 50% compared to the same time in 2017.
