Encana gets Canadian court approval for planned name change, move to US

The Court of Queen's Bench of Alberta granted Encana Corp. a final order approving its plan of arrangement to change its name and move its headquarters to the U.S., according to a Jan. 17 news release. The approval comes after Encana's security holders voted in favor of its reorganization resolution to exit Canada, rebrand as Ovintiv Inc., and completion of a consolidation and share exchange for effectively one Ovintiv common share for every five Encana common shares.

Enterprise starts Mentone gas processing plant in Delaware Basin

Enterprise Products Partners LP on Jan. 21 said it put into service its 300-MMcf/d Mentone cryogenic natural gas processing plant in Loving County, Texas. The facility has the capacity to extract more than 40,000 barrels per day of NGLs and is underpinned by a long-term acreage dedication agreement. The plant raises the partnership's gas processing capacity and NGL extraction capacity in the Permian Basin to over 1.6 MMcf/d and 250,000 bbl/d, respectively.

Energy Transfer subsidiary to pay $1.95M penalty for environmental violations

Energy Transfer LP subsidiary Sunoco Pipeline LP will pay a $1.95 million penalty for its environmental violations during the construction of the Mariner East 2 NGL pipeline in Huntingdon County, Pa. The Pennsylvania Department of Environmental Protection said the Energy Transfer subsidiary failed to report several spills of drilling fluids into Raystown Lake from drilling activities for the pipeline. The state agency said over 208,000 gallons of drilling fluids were found covering the bottom of the lake.

DCP Midstream, Apergy unit to develop AI technology for oil, gas operations

DCP Midstream LP and Apergy Corp. subsidiary Windrock Inc. agreed to jointly develop a set of digital solutions utilizing artificial intelligence technology to improve DCP Midstream's oil and gas operations. The joint development will integrate Windrock's artificial intelligence and smart-hardware technology into DCP Midstream's processes and operations, with functions such as anticipating changes in machine health in advance.
