Hyundai Mobis profit misses consensus by 16.0% in Q4

Hyundai Mobis Co. Ltd. said its fourth-quarter normalized net income was 7,665.87 South Korean won per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 9,122.76 won per share.

EPS rose year over year from 7,330.58 won.

Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 727.77 billion won, an increase from 700.39 billion won in the prior-year period.

The normalized profit margin fell to 7.3% from 7.4% in the year-earlier period.

Total revenue increased 5.0% on an annual basis to 9.989 trillion won from 9.518 trillion won, and total operating expenses grew 5.8% on an annual basis to 9.117 trillion won from 8.618 trillion won.

Reported net income totaled 866.67 billion won, or 9,128.90 won per share, compared with 865.01 billion won, or 9,053.63 won per share, in the prior-year period.

For the year, the company's normalized net income totaled 27,616.14 won per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus normalized EPS estimate of 31,886.71 won.

EPS declined from 30,279.02 won in the prior year.

Normalized net income was 2.634 trillion won, a decline from 2.893 trillion won in the prior year.

Full-year total revenue rose on an annual basis to 36.020 trillion won from 35.127 trillion won, and total operating expenses grew on an annual basis to 33.082 trillion won from 31.985 trillion won.

The company said reported net income declined on an annual basis to 3.097 trillion won, or 32,465.15 won per share, in the full year, from 3.508 trillion won, or 36,718.46 won per share.

As of March 3, US$1 was equivalent to 1,211.12 South Korean won.
