Dexia CEO to become UniCredit's finance, control head

Wouter Devriendt is stepping down as CEO of Dexia SA ahead of the expiration of his current term to become head of finance and control at Italian lender UniCredit SpA.

Devriendt took the helm of the Belgian bank in May 2016. Dexia has mandated Bart Bronselaer to serve as temporary CEO and management chairman.

Devriendt will take the role at the Italian banking group in early 2020 and report directly to CEO Jean Pierre Mustier. The newly created role will have him oversee UniCredit's group identity and communication, regulatory and institutional affairs, strategy and M&A and chief lending officer departments, in addition to finance and planning, accounting and investor relations activities.
