Jaguar Land Rover to recall over 68,000 vehicles in China

Tata Motors Ltd.-owned Jaguar Land Rover Automotive PLC is recalling 68,828 vehicles in China due to potentially defective engines, state-run Xinhua News Agency reported Jan. 1, citing a filing to the country's State Administration for Market Regulation.

The recall targets 42,000 Discovery 4 models manufactured between 2009 and 2016, in addition to more than 20,000 Range Rover Sport models manufactured between 2009 and 2013, the report said.

Engines in those models may stall as their crankshaft bearings sustain early wear and tear, which could reportedly result in breaks under extreme conditions.

The wave of recalls will start April 5, with Jaguar Land Rover China checking all affected vehicles and replacing faulty parts free of charge.
