FCC says it has funding to last more than a week in government shutdown

The U.S. Federal Communications Commission said it plans to remain open until early January despite the partial government shutdown.

The regulator, which oversees matters related to radio, television, wire, satellite and cable, said it has enough funding to pay staff at least through close of business Jan. 2, 2019.

Republicans and Democrats are yet to hammer out a spending agreement to end the shutdown, with President Donald Trump's demand for $5 billion to fund a wall between the U.S. and the Mexico border at the heart of the disagreement.
