Toyota Motor Corp. has agreed to start talks with automotive parts supplier Denso Corp. about merging the core electronic component operations of the two companies within Denso.
The two companies will hold discussions on transferring the production of electronic components from Toyota's Hirose Plant to Denso at the end of 2019 and consolidating mass-production functions for electronic components within Denso from 2022.
The Japanese automaker also concluded a memorandum of understanding with Toyota Tsusho Corp. on considering the transfer all of its sales and marketing operations for Africa to Toyota Tsusho from January 2019. Local operations of Toyota South Africa Motors (Pty) Ltd. are excluded from the transfer.
