Kinder Morgan Inc.'s Kinder Morgan Canada Ltd. signed contracts with two of the six contractors it tapped for the C$7.4 billion Trans Mountain oil pipeline expansion project.
A construction contract with Macro Spiecapag Joint Venture covers the Spread 5B section of the project from Coquihalla to Hope in British Columbia. An engineering, procurement and construction contract with Kiewit Ledcor TMEP Partnership is for the Lower Mainland/Spread 7 section, which covers the Westridge marine terminal, Burnaby terminal and Sumas terminal.
The company expects to sign contracts with the final four contractors soon, according to an Oct. 4 news release.
Through the project, the Trans Mountain crude oil pipeline would be expanded to 890,000 barrels per day of transportation capacity, up from the current 300,000 bbl/d. The expanded line would run between Edmonton, Alberta, and Burnaby, British Columbia.
