NTR PLC has acquired a 200-MW onshore wind portfolio in Sweden and Finland through its infrastructure fund NTR Renewable Energy Income Fund II from a consortium of nine Swedish industrial companies.
The portfolio includes three operational wind plants with a combined capacity of 94 MW and one advanced-stage development cluster totaling 108 MW. The projects represent a total capital investment in excess of €180 million.
The operational plants are 69-MW Trattberget facility in the Örnsköldsvik municipality, Northern Sweden, 10-MW Skutskär facility in Medora Bay, Sweden and 15-MW Svalskulla in facility the Ostrobothnia region of Finland. The cluster under construction, named Norra-Vedbo, is in southern Sweden and is expected to attain full operational status in 2021.
NTR said in a news release Jan. 15 that it aims to secure long-term contracts for the output of the Swedish facilities, while the wind farm in Finland benefits from the feed-in tariff program supported by the Finnish government.
The acquisition builds on NTR's recent purchases of wind and solar projects in the U.K. and France through the infrastructure investment fund. The fund acquired nine operational solar assets with a combined capacity of 38.4 MW in the U.K. for €61.3 million in November 2018 and two wind farms in France totaling 19 MW for €35 million in December 2018.
NTR secured €229 million of commitments for the fund earlier in January.
