Indonesian President Joko Widodo has signed the presidential regulation on the Cyber Body and National Encryption Agency, The Jakarta Post reported June 1.
The Cyber Body and National Encryption Agency, or BSSN, will be tasked to implement cybersecurity and boost the economy. It will be run by the Communications and Information Ministry, the Indonesia Security Incident Response Team on Internet Infrastructure, and the encryption agency.
The establishment of a national cyber agency was a response to major cases of cyberattacks in the country, including the recent WannaCry ransomware attack on Dharmais Hospital, Indonesia's largest hospital for cancer.
