First turbine at Northland Power's 332-MW wind project comes online

Northland Power Inc. announced March 31 that the first wind turbine at the 332-MW Nordsee One offshore wind project has come online.

Installation and commissioning of the 54 turbines planned for the wind facility began in March and are expected to be completed by the end of the year, according to a news release. Seven turbines have been installed so far.

Upon completion, the wind facility is expected to generate more than 1,300 GWh of electricity annually, which is enough to power approximately 400,000 German households.
