Report: More cashierless Amazon Go stores in the works Inc. may be on the hunt for more locations to build its cashierless convenience stores, Recode reported Feb. 22.

Citing unnamed sources, Recode reported that the e-commerce giant may open as many as six additional Amazon Go stores by the end of 2018. The new stores will likely come in Seattle, where Amazon debuted the concept in January, and Los Angeles, where the company has spoken with billionaire developer Rick Caruso about adding a store to a shopping complex, according to the report.

Amazon did not immediately respond to a request for comment from S&P Global Market Intelligence.

Amazon Go stores, whose offerings focus on food and drinks, allow customers to shop without using a traditional checkout.

After identifying themselves using their phones at the entrance, customers choose the items they want before walking out of the store. Amazon then charges their account for items purchased.
