6 Australian insurance brokers form Aviso Group

Six Australian insurance brokers have joined together to form a new broking group, Aviso Group Pty. Ltd.

The six brokers are Aviso WA, Eagle, Fitzpatrick & Co., Acumen, MacMurray and AllSafe, insuranceNEWS.com.au reported April 3. Envest Pty. Ltd., a private equity firm that brokered the deal, holds a minority stake in the six brokerages.

The new broking group has 11 offices around Australia and a combined gross written premium of A$133 million. It will be one of the first brokers to provide customers with the choice of dealing online or through more traditional advice models, or both, Chairman Barry Fitzpatrick said.

The group operates as part of Steadfast Group, a general insurance broker network that operates in Australia and New Zealand.

As of April 4, US$1 was equivalent to A$1.32.
