The number of people employed in Germany rose 1.4% year over year in April on an adjusted basis, maintaining the same pace of growth for the eighth straight month, according to provisional data from the Federal Statistical Office.
Roughly 44.6 million persons were employed in the country in April, an increase of 597,000 compared with the same month last year. The number of unemployed people fell 250,000 from a year earlier to about 1.5 million last month.
On a seasonally adjusted basis, the number of unemployed people in Germany was 1.47 million in April, down by about 20,000 from the prior month.
Germany's adjusted unemployment rate came in at 3.4% in April.
