Sprint sets up 5G Experience center in Kansas City area

Sprint Corp. has opened a Sprint 5G Experience center at its headquarters in Overland Park, Kan.

The dedicated center features more than 12 stations and demonstrations that use augmented reality, virtual reality and simulated displays to explain how 5G works and how it can be used by the people.

The move comes as the U.S. carrier is gearing up to launch its commercial 5G service in May. Chicago, Atlanta, Dallas and Kansas City, Kan.-Mo., are expected to be among the first cities to receive a commercial 5G service, with Houston, Los Angeles, New York City, Phoenix and Washington, D.C., also to receive it in the first half of 2019.

The 1,100-square-foot facility is housed in Sprint's Executive Briefing Center in Overland Park.
