Nuclear update: US output moves higher as Pilgrim, Farley 1 increase production

Total U.S. nuclear plant availability continued to advance early May 16 to 91.46%, up from 90.83% on May 15 and also above the 79.68% reported on the same day a year ago.

Lifting total output was rebound production at Entergy Corp.'s Pilgrim Nuclear Power Station in Massachusetts. The unit was pegged at 98% early May 16, up from 50% on May 15. Southern Co.'s Farley 1 in Alabama saw output rise from 47% on May 15 to 67% early May 16.

In addition, unit 1 of Entergy's Arkansas Nuclear One in Arkansas was warming up at 1% early May 16. The unit was taken offline on May 8 for undisclosed reasons.

As of early May 16, a total of five nuclear power reactors remain shut.
