Tenaga Nasional Bhd. said its normalized net income for the fiscal second quarter ended Feb. 28 amounted to 27 Malaysian sen per share, compared with the S&P Capital IQ consensus estimate of 25 sen per share.
EPS rose 82.0% year over year from 15 sen.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 1.50 billion ringgits, a gain of 82.0% from 824.5 million ringgits in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 14.1% from 8.2% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue increased 6.1% on an annual basis to 10.61 billion ringgits from 10.00 billion ringgits, and total operating expenses declined 7.8% from the prior-year period to 7.83 billion ringgits from 8.49 billion ringgits.
Reported net income rose 24.4% year over year to 2.16 billion ringgits, or 38 sen per share, from 1.73 billion ringgits, or 31 sen per share.
As of April 27, US$1 was equivalent to 3.55 ringgits.
