La Quinta Holdings looking to spin off real estate biz

La Quinta Holdings Inc. is looking to spin off its owned real estate assets from its franchise and management businesses, giving rise to two standalone publicly traded companies.

President and CEO Keith Cline said in a release that the separation would allow each company "to attract the investor base most appropriate for its distinct investment profile."

J.P. Morgan and Simpson Thacher & Bartlett LLP are serving as the company's financial adviser and legal adviser, respectively.
