Alliance Pharma CEO, chairman to step down; replacements named

U.K.-based Alliance Pharma plc said its founder John Dawson will step down as CEO but will remain on the company's board as a nonexecutive director.

Peter Butterfield, the drugmaker's deputy chief executive, will become permanent CEO on May 1.

Alliance Pharma's chairman, Andrew Smith, will also step down from the board. David Cook, a nonexecutive director of the company, will take his place. Smith had been chairman since 2014.

Cook is the CFO of Ellipses Pharma Ltd.
