RELX profit declines as revenue falls

RELX PLC posted a decline in its net profit for the first half of fiscal 2018 to £678 million, or 34.1 pence per share, in the half ending June 30, down by 1% from £682 million, or 33.6 pence per share, in the same period of 2017.

Revenue for the first half fell by 1% to £3.65 billion from £3.70 billion in the prior-year period.

The company said its operating profit rose to £969 million in the first half, from £942 million.

RELX also boosted its interim dividend by 6% to 12.4 pence per share.
