Rio Tinto-controlled Turquoise Hill Resources Ltd. on July 30 appointed Ulf Quellmann as CEO, effective Aug. 1, replacing interim CEO Luke Colton, who took over after Jeff Tygesen retired.
Quellmann was most recently the vice president of strategic projects at Rio Tinto's copper and diamonds product group.
He was the group treasurer at Rio Tinto from 2008 to 2016 and led the arrangement of the US$4.4 billion project finance facility for the Oyu Tolgoi copper-gold project in Mongolia.
