Peabody completes sale of majority of Burton mine to New Hope's Lenton

Peabody Energy Corp. has completed the sale of the majority of four mining tenements and related infrastructure at the Burton mine in Queensland, Australia, to New Hope Corp. Ltd.'s 90%-owned Lenton joint venture for roughly US$11 million.

Regency granted option to take Rosa coal mine stake to 100%

US Carbon Resolutions Corp. gave an option to Regency Mines Plc to buy 80% of Carbon Minerals Corp., which owns the Rosa metallurgical coal mine and wash plant in Alabama. Regency can acquire all of the assets related to the Rosa mine for £250,000, according to the Nov. 24 release.

Mitsui, Engie selling Loy Yang B coal plant in Australia to Alinta Energy

Engie SA and Mitsui & Co. Ltd. agreed to sell the 1,000-MW Loy Yang B coal power plant in Victoria, Australia, to Alinta Energy Holdings Pty Ltd, Bloomberg News reported Nov. 22, citing an emailed statement from Alinta. Engie has a 70% interest in the plant with Mitsui owning the remainder.

Talos Energy to acquire Stone Energy to form new E&P company

Talos Energy LLC agreed to acquire Stone Energy Corp. to form Talos Energy Inc., which will have an initial equity market capitalization of about $1.9 billion and an enterprise value of about $2.5 billion, according to a Nov. 21 news release. Talos Energy Inc. is expected to trade on the NYSE under "TALO."

Chaparral Energy transitions to pure-play STACK operator with $170M asset sale

Chaparral Energy Inc. completed its transition into a pure-play STACK operator with the closing of its North Burbank and Texas Panhandle enhanced oil recovery assets divestiture. The company sold the properties, which represent about 5,700 barrels of oil equivalent per day of the company's 24,500 boe/d of total production, to Perdure Petroleum, LLC.

Colo.-based company to sell noncore Uinta Basin assets for $110M

Denver-based Bill Barrett Corp. is set to transition into a pure-play DJ Basin company with the sale of its remaining noncore assets in the Uinta Basin for about $110 million to unaffiliated third parties. The transaction is scheduled to close on or before Dec. 31.

Calumet sells Okla. drilling fluids company for $84M

Calumet Specialty Products Partners LP closed its divestiture of Anchor Drilling Fluids USA LLC for about $84 million, as it continues to trim its resources to focus on the core specialty products business.

2 First Nations purchase 49% partnership stake in East Tank Farm Development

Fort Mckay First Nation and Mikisew Cree First Nation completed the acquisition of a 49% partnership stake in Suncor Energy Inc.'s East Tank Farm Development for C$503 million, according to a Nov. 22 news release.
