Hershey sells potato chip brand Tyrrells to British snacks company

U.S. chocolate company Hershey Co. agreed to sell its potato chip brand Tyrrells Inc. to KP Snacks Ltd., the British nuts and chips maker owned by Intersnack Group GmbH & Co. KG, according to a May 17 announcement.

The sale includes the transfer of Tyrrells' global portfolio of snack brands including Aroma Snacks, Lisa organic potato chips and Australia's Yarra Valley Snack Foods.

KP Snacks CEO Mark Thorpe said the acquisition would allow the company to add premium hand-cooked chips to its business.

Financial terms were not disclosed.
