Brazil's savings deposits outpace withdrawals by 8.54B reais in September

Savings deposits in Brazil surpassed withdrawals in September by 8.54 billion Brazilian reais, marking the seventh consecutive month of the positive trend, data from Banco Central do Brasil showed.

Total savings deposits in September amounted to 182.87 billion reais, while withdrawals totaled 174.33 billion reais, according to the central bank.

For the first nine months of 2018, Brazil's savings accounts recorded a net deposit amount of 25.50 billion reais. For the 12-month rolling period through September, the savings account balance is positive at 50.44 billion reais.

As of Oct. 4, US$1 was equivalent to 3.92 Brazilian reais.
