John Keells PLC said its normalized net income for the fiscal third quarter ended Dec. 31, 2014, amounted to 70 Sri Lankan cents per share, a gain of 19.7% from 58 cents per share in the year-earlier period.
Normalized net income, which excludes unusual gains or losses on a pre- and after-tax basis, was 42.5 million rupees, a gain of 19.0% from 35.7 million rupees in the year-earlier period.
The normalized profit margin increased to 16.7% from 16.4% in the year-earlier period.
Total revenue rose 17.1% on an annual basis to 254.3 million rupees from 217.2 million rupees, and total operating expenses grew 24.5% from the prior-year period to 174.0 million rupees from 139.7 million rupees.
Reported net income rose 34.1% on an annual basis to 49.5 million rupees, or 81 cents per share, from 36.9 million rupees, or 60 cents per share.
As of Feb. 5, US$1 was equivalent to 132.28 Sri Lankan rupees.
