APPA names new president, CEO

The American Public Power Association, which advocates on behalf of municipal utilities, on Oct. 15 said that its board appointed Joy Ditto as its president and CEO, effective Jan. 13, 2020.

Ditto, a long-time former association, or APPA, employee and executive, since 2016 has been president and CEO of Washington, D.C.-based trade association Utilities Technology Council, which focuses on the intersection of energy and telecommunications. Prior to joining APPA, Ditto worked on Capitol Hill for legislators including former Sens. Chuck Hagel, R-Neb., and John McCain, R-Ariz.

Ditto's selection was announced the same time as APPA said its current president and CEO, Sue Kelly, will retire in December after a five-year term.

Separately, the UTC said it intends to have a new president and CEO identified by the time Ditto departs.
