Report: Ghana's central bank mulls uniBank restructuring

Ghana's central bank is considering restructuring uniBank (Ghana) Ltd., according to Bank of Ghana Second Deputy Governor Elsie Addo Awadzie, Modern Ghana reported.

The lender is among 10 banks in the country that have asked the government for more time to bolster their capital, according to the report.

Banks in Ghana have until year-end to meet a new minimum capital requirement of 400 million cedis, up from 120 million cedis.

As of May 16, US$1 was equivalent to 4.59 Ghanaian cedis.
