All seven of Mexico's systemically important banks are in compliance with the country's minimum capital ratio levels, the national banking and securities commission said.
Previously, Mexico had designated Grupo Financiero Inbursa SAB de CV, Scotiabank Inverlat SA Institución de Banca Múltiple and HSBC México SA Institución de Banca Múltiple Grupo Financiero HSBC as Grade I systemically important banks. It also named Grupo Financiero Banorte SAB de CV in Grade II, Grupo Financiero Santander Mexico SAB de CV and Grupo Financiero Banamex SA de CV in Grade III and Grupo Financiero BBVA Bancomer SA de CV in Grade IV.
In a Dec. 14 statement, the CNBV said that as of October, all of the banks meet the implied capitalization ratio of 10.5%, which includes a minimum capitalization requirement of 8% plus a 2.5% capital conservation buffer.
Overall, the CNBV said the capitalization ratio for multiple banking institutions was 15.73%, with the basic capital ratio at 14.34% and the fundamental capital ratio at 13.67%. All three metrics showed little-to-no change from a month earlier.
