Attempts to revive over 300 lawsuits alleging Pfizer Inc. downplayed the risks of Zoloft in pregnant women was defeated by the U.S. 3rd Circuit Court of Appeals in Philadelphia, Reuters reported.
The plaintiffs alleged the anti-depressant caused cardiac birth defects when taken by women during early pregnancy. However, the court noted that the plaintiffs were unable to show a scientific link between Zoloft and the cardiac birth defects.
The lawsuits were previously defeated in a lower court in April 2016, and it is yet unclear if the plaintiffs will request another appeal or a rehearing.
